7 incentives to learn astral projection

Astral Projection is the process by which human consciousness temporarily leaves the physical body and functions independently. Its amazing to realize the power of that invisible silver cord! (It case you didn't know, its what's severed by divine beings at the moment of 'passing over').   Loads of people experience astral and concur its very real. Will you choose to take their word? or, explore it yourself?

Now, astral travel is not unconscious dreaming. Lucid dreaming is a stage when you become aware that you are dreaming. Astral is another step where you also travel after a conscious projection. This is a level of heightened perception. As you explore the astral dimension, your senses can seem sharper and sensations appear more real.

Mark Pritchard, who teaches an Astral course, explains Astral describes the first two planes of the 5th dimension. You may be more familliar with the first three (length, width& height) of the physical world. Time occupies the perceived 4th dimension. The 6th is the electronic dimension. The 7th is the spirit dimension.  A variety of perspectives exist on what inter-dimensional travel feels like. What is yours?

You may ask, why desire to learn Astral anyway? Maybe you're even thinking it could be dangerous? Consider these 7 incentives which motivate astral travellers:

1) Improve clarity and conscious memory. Who doesn't desire a sharper memory? The more lucid your dreams, the more aware you become in a conscious state and the easier is to access memory. Yet, you must raise consciousness to a certain level in waking life before you will recall dreams or grasp your potential in astral.

2) Influence humans in the physical dimension. No, this isn't an opportunity to pretend you're a ghost, though you might view it that way. People may be motivated to learn astral to interact with people in the physical realm without touching them. People in the physical can't see into the higher dimensions without remembering the capacity of polyvision.

3) Connect with angels, sentient beings & your deepest self. You can send out a request for general assistance to expand on your understanding and experience of astral. You may even connect with a specific guide or spirit for other reasons. Its up to you to invoke beings or spirits you wish to sense and contact. Dream guides are available to those who ask.

4) Meet other humans in astral. Humans like contacting others in astral. This heightens sensitivities. Yet, you and another only engage in meaningful astral exchanges and recall them in physical realms if both of you are aware in astral. One person can be conscious and see another without being able to convey a message. You can see the astral light of a physical body far away, as in check on a loved one.

5) Gain new kinds of spiritual knowledge. The astral plane offers a wealth of information on many subjects. Much of this is available in symbols. You can also learn from other travellers and beings who go there. Decipher what you choose.

6) Travel backward & forward in time. Lots of people are intrigued by time travel as a theory and wonder if its possible. Astral allows you to go backward to relive events that have occurred. These details are recorded in Akashic files. You can also sense possible future events, since details permeate down through dimensions. Yet, action in the physical can change events that were originally foreseen.

7) Contact departed loved ones. It is possible to encounter departed loved ones in astral since their spirit abides in higher dimensions. As your astral skills evolve, you will be able sense the presence of the loved one's personality, or whatever was most recognizable to you about them in the physical world. You can evolve to communicate and be recognized by them through your own traits and sensitivities.

Just so you know, everybody explores astral every night. Yet, they don't always remember experience in dream realms. Astral travel requires discipline and will power to develop the skills for consistent projection and to achieve continuity.

Thank-you for sharing this. I am hungry to experience this. Where do you suggest I start?

Awareness of personal astral travel doesn't typically happen for people overnight. For starters, you have to truly believe its possible for ability to develop. Some people take years to work through scepticism which can be conscious and/or subconsious. Doubt thwarts progress. Many travelers sense its a stage in a fantastic journey that begins with gaining insight into self-acceptance, love and the immortal soul. This is strengthened through regular meditation and spiritual pursuits. Learning to recall dreams on a regular basis is a stepping stone to controlled lucid dreaming. This prepares you for heightened sensivity and higher-level controlled experiences.

Different books about creative and lucid dreaming can be useful. Explore options. Choose authors who appeal to you. Some people prefer instructional books. Other people prefer personal stories or a combination of both styles. For astral ideas, Experiencing Astral Travel- an 8wk course by Mark Pritchard (written under pseudonym V.M. Beelzebub) and Journeys out of Body by Robert Monroe are two favorites. Additional books, courses and retreats also exist.

In general, whenever you find a topic of interest, reflect. Ask yourself what you really want and why. Determine your motivation. Discuss it. Believe in yourself. You may be surprised at people you know who may have related experience to offer. The law of attraction says we invite opportunities and people into our lives to help us achieve goals. We must only be open to possibilities and learn to see beyond ego.

This was interesting Liara----I know traveling has many benefits so maybe I should make a focused effort to practice more often!

Thank you for your insight!

I'm glad you found the article stimulating, Lucid. Its heart-warming for me to discern when people feel more motivated to explore new levels of their own consciousness. Human beings often have no idea of their potential in this area. Yet, the will to improve is the first step to discovering new parts of yourself and so much more!

hey i was wondering would it be best to go into the astral through lucid dreaming?
October 20, 2007 | Unregistered Commenterjamaar
Hi Jamaar.
Everyone goes into astral automatically, but not everyone is aware of this at a conscious level. If you don't believe in a spiritual body, lucid dreaming may simply represent another state for your mind to experience. If you do believe in a spiritual state, the widespread view among believers is that lucid dreaming is the same as lucid (basic) astral projection. Of course, many levels of astral remain to be explored. Based on your goals, it can be meaningful to consult books and network with practitioners. The progress you make will relate to initiatives you take to gain practical experience, to train yourself to recall and understand your own dreams.

Levi, its kind and helpful that you offer to share your own astral experiences. You encourage others as you highlight you believe anyone can do this. Limitation or possibility are attitudes that begin inside. We are our own greatest motivators.

I understand astral projection and lucid dreaming are two entirely different things. Like you say, when you sleep and you know you're asleep, that is lucid dreaming. To me, astral projection is a state between consciousness and sleep. How do you know which one your doing? Simple,if you can create anything you want with a thought, then you're lucid. While in astral, you're projecting your spiritual self into this world and can go anywhere. In lucid dreaming, you just dream. In astral projection, everything around you is real.

Will, great that you decided to share your views. As you begin to discern consciousness is infinite and ever-expanding, its easier to grasp the unlimited, possible development of your inner self. Some people don't yet understand the physical body is the materialisation of 'astral form.' This is created consciously or unconsciously by intense emotion.

Its significant most people aren't focused on their physical body in waking life. Its more likely you focus on a series of events perceived on a particular frequency. Its all based in your sense of time. Consciousness leaves the physical body during periods of sleep. It can also travel while you're awake. There's always more to learn, if you're ready and willing.

Can you practice and improve a skill, like, say, knitting better or, for example, study math for an exam?

Can you develop a skill by practicing it in lucid dreaming? (Another example: someone who is learning karate or has ballet lessons. Can they actually Improve their waking skill level by working on it while sleeping?)

D, my view is definitely. The astral plane is a dimension where anything is possible. It is a question of belief in yourself and an understanding of multiple dimensions. To gain insight into the truth of your own infinite possibilities, you need to raise awareness of and work though any mental blocks that may prevent developing a particular skill in waking life.

On a conscious level, you can focus on visualisation exercises to reinforce what you learn. Athletes do this regularly as part of their training. They engage in physical work-outs, meditate and visualize how they will execute their ideal performance. They imagine a goal, reinforce the process and desired result through self-discipline and mind control.

Similarly, as you practice and gain more control over your astral dreaming, you discover what is unimaginable. As you retrace the steps of what you have learned in waking life, you can also rediscover what you forgot you already know. It begins with deep faith and trust in yourself. As you nurture that, you rapidly learn more about yourself and grow.

Thank you very much for your answer :)

So, it boils down to self-discipline - something that I really need to develop (sometimes I have it, sometimes not) and a constant persistence tough time (as I write this I think: Saturn!). Again, thank you.

Hi
I just wanted to know how to use your astral body because I want to learn Telekinesis. Can you help me out with that please?? Thanks.
June 12, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterMichael
Michael, you already discern more than you realize. A key question to ask yourself is what is your motive? Why do you aim to develop this skill now, at this moment in your life? Reasons for your desire offer clues to the path that open for you. I will post a blog on Telekinesis to prompt additional reflection which could be helpful, if you decide it will be. How well you get-to-know yourself will determine your perception of success on any level.

hi, i have heard that this kind of dreaming can be dangerous, like it can leave u in a coma or something. i myself would like to try it and am very tuned into my dreams, but im just wondering is there risks involved?

and if we may be able to cross into different astral planes if being that spirits or such exist what if we are not welcome in that realm?
July 21, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterLorree
Lorree, opinion is not the truth. It is often grounded in ignorance and fear. When something sparks your curiosity, asking someone who doesn't share your beliefs in what is possible will always hold you back. You live the life you think about. If you place your belief in fear, you will find reasons to substantiate the fear you created.
July 22, 2008 | Registered CommenterLiara Covert
I myself have had one or two experiences with what I think to be astral projection. This has mostly been when I was in a state of dreaming and was able to will myself to make my body do things to my will, though I realized that once I was in this state I had trouble changing the situation or going other places, though when I thought of my body I was immediatly 'awake' and clearly able to remember everything that had happened. I find myself even if I'm 'asleep' able to pay attention, see, hear, and smell the things that are around me without ever actually leaving my body. This has confused me, as I had no previous training or idea of what to do, what this was, or why it was happening. So I'm presenting my question: as I mentioned I am able to control myself in this state, though I find it hard to change the situation and the place, is this something that will come with more practice or maybe is what is happening just a state of being aware of my dreams? I did find however that at this years turning of fifteen I have had less control over it than last year and the year previous, I'm nervous that I've had this ability but that I am slowly losing it due to my lack of practice. I'm not comfortable with saying that I am more inclined to the ability, as I have read that some people are, but it had been coming rather naturally until lately. Is it possible that I could lose control over what I have 'mastered' so far if I fail to practice?
July 29, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterMoriah
Moriah, learning comes back to you like riding a bike. Your abilities are dormant in your memory and you can discipline the mind to retrieve them anytime. Practice enables you to sharpten skills. Refer to my comment from October 9 for some book references. You would find material on subjects of interest in your local librabry or bookstore. You might also check out www.gnosticweeb.com
