Stop and smell the flowers

Notice what revs you up and gets you excited. You may be someone who is conditioned to do, do, do and go, go, go.  You may pride yourself on your planning and strategies to make yourself feel you live life to the fullest.  As fun as it is to experience different places and activities, what if you could be happy and find something worthwhile smelling the flowers right where you are?

Listen to words you use in conversation. It is easy to allow yourself to focus on what you are doing later today, tomorrow or on the horizon, or what you have already done.  In doing so, notice the unseen and unmentioned is here and now. If you feel anything other than appreciation about where you are and all that is unfolding in life, then get ready for another way of seeing.   You can do something, everything or nothing and it all smells of the same love in the heart.

Last week the fields were sprayed with dairy air which was an all day endeavor. The air was absolutely saturated with dung that must have been fermented. We were acting silly all night long as if we were flying higher than our normal lead on a kite. Every cell was fertilized with new life and well being. We were playing rumi and no one could really add or total a score. This week horse manure was delivered. One can't escape that which perfumes life. Wear all odors till they radiate fully in all directions both inside and out.

Bern, thank you for these playful words. Indeed, everything in life has its own particular perfume. It is a joy to taste all the world has to offer, to explore the kaleidoscope of multi-sensory experiences. Nothing has no odour and is what you decide it feels like or nothing.

Trust me, I never loved spending my time with nature, but I do believe the aroma of flowers makes one's day great. I know it's not more of the flower thingy in this post you have, but it's something I agree that life gets complete with nature.

I just realized its quite the metaphor for my life at this time. I suppose i had been focusing too much on people's pooping on life that I had to learn to see and know that there is a good side to every dropping. Its seems to have been a recurring theme these past few weeks. Let it all hit the fan and spread evenly and smoothly upon the earth as it may.

Geraldine, appreciate your reflections. A sense of completeness is ever-present within oneself. External nature is a pointer to true nature which is often underappreciated and/or overlooked.

Bern, just shared a delightful conversation with a lady about the humour of bird poop that is very timely here. Each person sees bird poop on the head or window based on what he is ready to see or how he is ready to feel about himself. Love the analogy of release and how easily a bird lets it fly. Humans are taught to tense up and push when the easy thing is to do is let go, let God or the universe within take over. To stop and smell the flowers is like stopping to smell and appreciate all poop and even the apparent shit of life in a new way.

I like this post. Even though short, it has its point. We realize that we actually have a lot of things to appreciate. I remember the alchemist by paulo coehlo the carrying of the candle in the palace, remember that story?

Andrea, love Paulo Coelho. Loving all that arises, all we encounter, even the simplicity of life, is the most natural thing to do. Nice to let go of all that gets in the way of what feels natural. People tend to forget that any kind of tension or struggle is not natural. Flowers remind us to smile and be happy where we are. They bend in the wind and radiate the sun.
