15 steps to nurture psychic insight

Why does psychic insight often mystify people? The dictionary offers varied meanings for “psychic.” Some people believe it pertains to things non-physical and non-scientific. Further, some people believe it relates to mystical aspects of the human soul or mind not readily proven or left unexplained.

Other people believe it describes individuals who are sensitive to forces, energy and forms that appear supernatural or inconceivable. Still other people prefer to avoid labels and detach from any view that requires external validity. Whatever your perspective, consider 15 steps to nurture psychic insight;

1) Attune to energy. Take steps to discern energy in diverse forms within and around you. They comprise you, affect your perception, scope of senses, faculties, health and well-being.

2) Raise self-awareness. As you begin to awaken to your thoughts and feelings, you can employ different techniques to gain insight into their underlying (and unconscious) causes.

3) Notice what is unnatural. Decisions you repeat reinforce conditioned responses to stimuli. You adopt practices based on vibrations expected from your senses or, based on what you are told, until you come to define what is natural to you.

4) Rediscover traits of "natural". Human beings are taught to forget what is. They are urged not to express how they feel when they feel it, to believe and consume man-made things and ideas. Life is a process of recovering inner-knowing on the natural, spontaneous, uncultivated, formless, and presence.

5) Recognize the influence of ego. Most of what you think and feel is displaced. The ego cannot relate to or begin to understand the present. Ego urges you to resist, devalue and avoid anything that would refer to the here and now.

6) Move beyond time. Wherever you perceive, you draw from conditions to rationalize a certain reality. Learning how you obscure things is a step toward dissolving what is not happening now. To detect when your mind wanders in time is how you realize ego distracts you from truth. Take time out of the equation and you remove ego influence.

7) Prepare to dissolve mindsets. A shifting of core consciousness must occur for you to consistently and genuinely change focus. This involves progressive stages of feeling, exploring and dissolving emotions using guided methods of mental discipline. To step beyond the"I" and "me" in thoughts and actions means you begin to transcend it.

8) Awaken deliberate intention. When you are busy getting somewhere, you are not present, do not notice inner patterns or deal with them. To awaken soul is to uncover something beneath your ingrained attitudes worthy of new attention.

9) Purge self-indulgence. Human beings are motivated by what they imagine will bring them pleasure. To humour your whims and satisfy your cravings is to self-indulge in ways that do not always serve you.

10) De-condition the mind. You exert yourself as part of a goal-setting process hoping to achieve certain personal outcomes. It is necessary to de-condition the mind to purify and restore your former, high estate of awareness. You may encounter resistence but this is but a trapping of the mind.

11) Accept events that unfold. As you consciously choose to align with energy as you sense it, you begin to embrace the concept of inner non-resistance. Choosing to accept getting what you want and not getting what you want, is like opening a door into unseen worlds. Beware though: indifference and reactivity are judgments. Acceptance is something else.

12) Choose to be in the now. At a given moment, when reasons for your action relate to a sense of presence, then you do not act based on ego. Moving beyond conditioned reasons for identity brings you to new levels of awareness and opens your senses to ingest energy outside human perception.

13) Move beyond fear. You no longer have reason to judge and consciously grasp what is. This is a mental place where you begin to view life with varying levels of insight. Words do not always adequately translate experiences.  You learn to recognize and dissolve walls to deeper, psychic awareness.

14) Nurture a gentle heart. Intuitively understanding the hearts of others means you arrive at a point where you sense everything is either from the view of perceiver, he who is perceiving, or the thing perceived; or, consciousness, force, or matter. Then, you evolve to sense all views simultaneously.

15) Align with pure love. To consciously move beyond conditioned mental images brings you to align with energy without conscious reference. You do not compare, juxtapose or analyze. Higher awareness allows you to experience an energy state or field without self-absorption. To access high energy vibrations between the spiritual self and fragmented selves, rediscover the practice of love.  Go beyond limitation.

Hi Liara,

My experience with psychic phenomena has been interesting if not entertaining. As a teen, I watched as my mother read Tarot cards, and as an adult, I have been to some psychics who read me well, while others didn't.

With anything, we have to be careful with that type of energy because it can come back to burn our trust in our fate.

Hi Liara!

Oh this is just what I wanted to read today (and always). I want to continue to attune myself to a higher state of being and be more sensitive to the finer frequencies of life, that most overlook.

I know the word "psychic" has some negative connotations, but really it is just about getting back to our intuitive selves. We can all do it - it just means quieting more than anything the illusions around us.

Alexys, psychics are often believed to be synonyms for fortune tellers. Yet, predicting lottery numbers is not a psychic's job. Lao Tzu reminds people that, "Those who have knowledge, don't predict. Those who predict, don't have knowledge" Someone with higher awareness can empower you to expand your vision and self-view, but your choices are yours alone. Every human being has ability to read energy. Some people read it accurately and others do not, as revealed in your own experience at the receiving end. As you raise awareness about how you already read energy, you gain new insight and expand your view within and without. To learn about different kinds of energy shows you the mind is a complex tool you use to stretch and grow. To experience an indescribable awe is to begin to explore the infinite depth of your core being.

Evita, associations or labels begin and end in your mind. Judgment is grounded in fear of what something is not rather than on understanding what it is. How then, do you know what exists? Only forms or what you label exist in human terms. To be aware of something nameless can only be traced back to awareness or wider consciousness. What you are unable to use human senses to prove actually enables those senses to exist and function and creates what you are. This is all slowly becoming clearer.

Thank you Liara - Indeed our mind is the vessel that can open or limit us greatly to what is or can be!

Liara,

I believe that some people are born with heightened perceptual abilities. Some people are able to look into any situation and see things that are not seen by most other people. Some people are born this way--and this is variable also--some people have senses that are so evolved, they can see things that remain closed to most of us--and others are just slightly more perceptually aware.

I do believe that all of us can develop this skill though and I feel the steps you have laid out are a good path to increase one's psychic ability. I believe if we do develop our psychic abilities then we are much better equipped to listen to our hearts. You have to be in tune to know the directions your heart is telling you.

As always, thank you for a refreshing, thoughtful post that helps me to view the world and myself differently.

These 15 steps go way beyond nurturing your psychic abilities and awareness. One could use these 15 steps to realign their entire approach to life. One could take just one of these and make vast improvements in their daily being. Thanks for sharing.

Melinda, if you believe in karma and the power of energy fields, you may also believe that previous life experiences obscure a person's chosen view of the present. Life experience offers insight into reasons for growing clarity or self-imposed ignorance. Individual personality traits detemine how honest people are with themselves about their intuition, untapped abilities. Some people believe all beings are born equal. How they view themselves, make life choices, experience love and fear, all alters their level of self-acceptance. You will only ever believe what you are consciously and unconsciously willing to accept. If you nurture doubt or negative energy, this can mean you need to re-align your energy in order to build self-confidence.

Mark, a person is always given all the information he requires. The question is, what does he do with it? Accept it? Reject it? Share it? Nothing happens that is not meant to happen. Whether you view events as disruptions or turning points determines how much you choose to suffer or mature. The more aware you are, the less you permit ego to control your choices. As you detach from what you create, you begin to realize something beyond you works through you. What is unseen is eternal, conscious and waiting for acknowledgement. If you sense you lose something, you realize you cannot detach from what you are. Awakening and accepting brings a willingness to believe what the ego is already telling you is unthinkable.

Liara, I took a energy reading training / psychic development class. It was more like getting to know ourselves. By the end of the class everyone was able to read others in the class and help each other to see issues that were creating obstacles. Psychic abilities are available to everyone if we allow ourselves. Your tips are the basics. Great post.

Miruh, human beings can evolve to recognize more joy and energy vibrations exist than you will ever be able to explain or decipher. And yet, joy does not come from what you do. It is what you are. As you say, the art of allowing is the key to tapping into unlimited inner power.

Hi, Liara. I've printed this one. ;) First, everything you've said here---and how you said it, so clearly and gently and with such care and understanding---is so clear, powerful, energizing.

Also, Mark took the works out of my mouth. Whether we pay attention to these points with the goal of nurturing our insight or just easing our way through our day, it's all beneficial.

Two items are particularly beneficial, likely because you've phrased them in a new way. Both have to do with ego and time. These are what really struck me:

<i>"The ego cannot relate to or begin to understand the present. "</i> This is the first time I've seen explained that the ego is only about the past or future. What a terrific insight you shared with that.

<i>"Learning how you obscure things is a step toward dissolving what is not happening now."</i> When you put it like that, and tie it to the ego/present point, it's so very clear how ego influences us moment by moment.

Those will be two aspects that will help us all stay focused on being the observers of our own behaviors.

Everything you've pointed out is how I seemed to be (in my remembrances) as a child. As life flowed and I bumped along, I adopted ways that didn't serve me well, as most of us do. Now, I'm shedding them---rapidly, thank goodness, with still a couple of hold-outs, apparently. (As for your point # 9, I'm sorry I ever learned to enjoy coffee, pastry, and chocolate!)

Liara, now I want to thank you. And so I do. ;)

Julie, every moment offers infinite opportunities to expand the scope of your perspective and the nature of your self-understanding. Human beings come to realize different meanings for the apparent light at the end of the end of the tunnel. You have all you need. Have faith and trust.

Hello!
I am a young teen, and I am extremely attracted to work with physics and mediums. My favorite show happens to be Long Island medium which is where most of my encouragement comes from. I haven't told any one about this exept for my close friend. I have taken test where is gives me a number and behind the number(on the website) is a picture. I thought of water, the color blue, buildings and bricks. I clicked on the picture and it revealed a city of brick buildings next to a river. That gave me a boost and I want to figure out how to trust my abbilities. I have been trying to nurture it but I need guidance. Please help?
August 29, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterKailey
Hi Kailey, when you are honest with yourself about something you love, something that resonates, you make choices that enable you to enjoy life more. Every experience is inviting you to trust and love yourself more. This involves doing things to build self-confidence and being ready not to care whether anyone judges your choices. You always invite into your life exactly what you need to encourage greater self-acceptance. Your heart is your most reliable guide. Take for example, you find this website. That is no coincidence. Only synchronicity exists. You already recognize that you have psychic ability. Be brave. Talk about what you love. Practice. Explore different psychic abilities. Start a discussion group or on-line forum with teens your own age. Write to authors of psychic books you read. Do school projects on a related topic or do your own research for fun. Use the Internet as a tool to connect with like-minded souls. Blogs and on-line communities exist to discuss a range of paranormal abilities. Facebook is one of a number of other avenues available wherever you are. Attend workshops or create other opportunities to sharpen psychic abilities. The key is to focus on love and nurturing what you love. Know everything is always going well. Contact me via this website with specific questions, or simply explore this blog and comment on other posts. Be aware that the answers to questions you ask, you already know in your heart, and may not yet have accepted! Getting confirmation helps you trust your own inner guidance more and gives you courage to move forward into the life you are destined to create for yourself.
