7 Things you can do during dream yoga

As you explore astral dreaming, you may decide to experiment with dream yoga. If you hesitate, then you may wonder whether this is for you or, whether you do it already. On your journey to the next level, you have nothing to fear but fear itself.

Tibetans describe dream yoga as the original or basic state of lucid dreaming. They are historic masters at awakening their consciousness during dreams. Astral projecting is when you become aware of an out-of-body experience (OBEs). As you gain more conscious control of OBEs, you can become lucid.

Many methods exist to discipline the mind, deliberately induce OBEs and lucidity. As you contemplate whether this experience would appeal, or select among ones to share as comments, consider five things you can learn to do during dream yoga;

1) Manifest physical things-Based on your perception, you create external, objective physical things, and the internal, subjective physical things. Sights, sounds, smells, tastes and sensations are the external or objective physical things. The five base senses are the subjective of internal physical things.

2) Discriminate among feelings& shift recognition. You choose to experience positive, negative or indifferent energy. Then, you shift to identify particular things. This mental recognition exercise moves from unconscious to conscious. You bring the process to the surface and become observer.

3) Explore different planes. You visualize a particular place in all its detail and go there, whether you have heard of it and visited there before or whether your imagination conjured an image from somewhere.  Your mind sharpens the texture.

4) Dialogue with enlightened beings- You interact with beings of higher awareness on dream planes and different levels of awareness.  You  only release what you learn into conscious awareness when these beings sense you are ready.

5) Meet with other sentient beings- When you mobilize your mind, you can actually intend to meet other sentient beings in designated places. That is, while your physcial body is at rest, your astral body can be directed elsewhere. Its also possible to explore other dimensions, realms, and bodies and log them all.

6) Unpack your paradoxes.  You evolve to realize all conditioned ideas in waking life are lying to and about the awareness that knows them.  You await your own soul-level process of conscious awakening, trigger a domino effect and watch.  Then move beyond the watcher.

7) Dissolve or transcend the dream states. As you detach consciously from the physical body (recognize you are lucid) and detach from the dreaming mind (become observer to your dream within dream), then you move to observe the purest form of conscious awareness.  This is that level where you become aware of an emptiness and become aware of the nature and dimensions of the reality behind everything. Opportunities exist to move through many levels of dream states.

How do you measure spiritual progress?

Progress is a movement toward a goal or an assumed higher stage.  Progress is perceived or not perceived, measurable or immeasurable to the human mind.  Instant progress is illusion to the mind yet, this does not mean instant evolution or awakening is impossible.  If what you seek is already here, then the revelation can be instantaneous and you need not go anywhere.

For the mind, no short-cuts  exist to self-mastery. It is all about effort and struggle.   Consider the phrase, ‘As the elevator to your destination is out of order, you are encouraged to take the stairs.’

From another perspective, life is spirit, not matter. The spiritual is not quantifiable. You feel the way.   Any sense of movement is more than spatial. It is successive in its own way.   So, you become what you perceive yourself to be by way of your choices. That is universal law of polarity. Imagine a magnet. How does it feel? Notice conditions and relations you attract. Each thought has implications.

Reflect on school days.  You may think of courses you wished were over before they started. Your mind may still continue this trend as it wanders to job prospects and thinks about promotion before you get the skills. The mind focuses on the future.  It hijacks your attention, triggers stress and impatience.

On another level, speed has nothing to do with spiritual progress.  As you step outside conditioning, you realize the universe shapes your conditions based on how it feels the vibration of your progress.

The time sensed in the heart is only about one thing: how long it takes to be a vibrational match with what you desire.  This reality is all about energy.  As you evolve to be more open to receiving of the flow and go with it, you raise awareness, sense conditions and inner power differently. The universe resonates as you reach milestones.  What manifests tells its own story. Read between the chapters.

In essence, the human mind judges progress based on physical aspects and its logic.  The human mind is unaware of spiritual considerations or does not ascertain energy flow within. Where is your focus of attention? Notice how more than one thing is going on and you choose how and what to see.

Uncover innate wisdom

To meditate on something other than the self allows widsom to reveal itself.  To discover the feeling of selflessness arises on the inside.  Are you ready to embrace experiences that demonstrate how much you love yourself?  Will you accept that all you do or do not do serves you?

Everything unfolds as is predicted, not based on the visions of self-interested people, but as is meant to be.  You will recognize when trials seem unavoidable in your life.  Yet, you will also evolve to sense trials arise and test you for good reason.  Uncover the wisdom.

To ask yourself how a given situation will improve you isn't a question to pose before an experience.  Only after you  live and learn are you in a position to reflect or grasp why obstacles stood in your path.  You create obstacles to learn to overcome each of them.

From whichever vantage point you gaze, the world and your conditions will appear different.  Yet, you are always the same being.  This shows you that only your perception and self-image change, not who or where you are.  Improvement is a state of mind.

Find the bright side

No matter what kind of condition or life circumstances you know and have known, a bright side exists. You can always train or untrain the mind to notice this.  Its a blessing to do so.

For instance, if it is raining outside, and this appears to spoil your plans, you can shift focus to be grateful for the nutrients this brings to the flowers and greenery. You can be grateful for the moisture that renews the Earth, that gives you water to drink, and enables you to do something you would not otherwise have done. You can see rain as opening the way to see the sun. Even an electric storm can be viewed as a form of relief for Nature and much more.

The same can be said for every person you ever know, every job you've ever had, every event that has ever unfolded in front of you. If you feel cheated or betrayed, you can find something positive about the same situation. You can focus what appears to be lacking or what insight, opportunity or wisdom you are gaining. What did you learn about yourself that you wouldn't have seen otherwise? It is valuable to step outside the judging mind.

If you feel you have reason to resign from your job, then you can choose to see that as the best possible thing that could happen, and feel excited about what is coming next. After all, to be your own boss or to find a different job more suitable to your skills would be marvelous!

Consider how an unforeseen injury that laid you up a few weeks enabled you to read the books you hadn't made time to read before. Perhaps you benefit from a reminder to relax and be kinder to yourself. Every event invites you to be more compassionate with yourself and others.  To recognize you have ability to see your life situation from another perspective is something that helps you, come what may.

Wherever you are, whatever you do, you can re-program your mind.  What will it take to convince yourself that you have blessings in your life? Start believing your relationships will be restored, that opportunities already exist for you and you choose to see them or not. As you start expecting good things to happen, then you reach a stage where this is all you see.  Know you pass your tests with flying colors. Recognize everything is preparing you for something else. You are being readied for conditions which are better for you than before. Sensing the bright side strengthens more than eyesight. It moves you from hope to trust.

The essence of being

I recall someone encouraging me to take the stairs if elevators to success seemed out of order.  Now, why is humans are conditioned to desire quick access to those things that seem beyond our reach? What is it that makes us feel we need what we do not seem to have?

As we let go of conditioning and shift to a place of non-judgment, priorities mysteriously change. The same things no longer hold appeal.  What does it feel like to let go of what you think you want? Refreshing? A relief? Open the mind and catch a glimpse of true essence.

One view of success is what the ego views as achievement. It appears out of reach so we think we must do something to get fulfilled. If your goal is a half hour of meditation twice per day, and you complete this, the related good feelings evoke a sense of satisfaction. If you aim to develop greater physical flexibility in yoga positions or, mental aptitude in negotiation, success is still 'results-oriented.' Notice what happens as you discover immeasurable kinds of success also exist.

Consider a talkative person who is known for having ideas spinning in his head all the time.  He may typically know restless sleep because his mind is busy working out solutions to his problems.  Then, as he learns to settle the ripples down, he may experience stillness. To allow silence into your life is to discover you attract different versions of success into your life.

As you quiet the mind, you let go of judgment and mental noise. Explore what silence feels like. A sense of success arises as an innate feeling of acceptance.  Its like doing nothing and everything at once, and loving unconditionally, come what may.  This is the essence of being.

Brace yourself: Be what is innate.  Love is your true nature.  Its not the conditional feeling that you get through relationships that mind would have you believe it is.
