Interview with Ian Morris

As part of meditation, people are often surprised to discover the power and effectiveness of sound healing.  During my spiritual journey, tuning into specific frequencies has triggered major shifts.

In this light, I am pleased to share an interview with Ian Morris, sound alchemist, founder and in-house creator of all music offered through Listening to Smile. Imagine that during the last four years, he has created a new album every month.   May the powerful inspiration keep flowing!

Pleasure to share this ancient wisdom.

Please offer a glimpse of your story...

I have over 20 years’ experience as a musician and have studied and worked in the performing arts field all of my life. I was raised around music and some say I was born with a natural gift of creativity. What lead me down this path of sound healing and frequency was my own personal struggles and journey through chronic illness and the anxiety and depression that came from being so sick. I explored sound and frequency using pure tones and then began creating music with these tones and other sacred frequencies to help facilitate my own healing. The results I experienced were astonishing beyond anything I could ever imagine. My family and friends noticed the miraculous change in my health and this led them to inquire more about what I was doing different. They wanted to experience this too.....and thus, Listening to Smile was born.

Its incredible to recognize that facing challenges is often the key to building the inner strength necessary to accept and express our innate gifts. How did this creative work take shape for you?

I began working with small groups in my community and studied how frequency affects many different ailments, illness, and dis-ease of both mind and body. I even built a sound/frequency table so that the body could be completely immersed in the vibration of the tones and frequencies.

No wonder people are finding specific sound frequencies complement other types of emotional release work. Breathwork, aromatherapy and sounds, all help us to let go of what we outgrow and align energetically with what matters. What sort of feedback do you receive?

I took feedback and input from doctors, psychologists, and holistic practitioners to streamline and solidify my services. My goal was to create a customizable experience. As the programs began to develop the clients were shocked and elated by the results. This work grew into the live sound healing events called “Sonic Meditations.” As more and more people wanted to experience his frequency music the program expanded into an international community.

"Sonic Meditations"...I love the vibration of this! How has this affected lives of people you know and yourself?

I have seen first-hand how frequency music changes lives, not only in the hundreds of people from all over the world that I have worked with, but also in my very own life with dyslexia and illness.  Listening to Smile frequency music is transformational. The possibilities are endless for how Listening to Smile music can transform your life and heal your body, mind, and spirit.

Share some key milestones...

Some key milestones or pivotal moments were when I realized that in the first 6 months in to doing Listening to Smile full time, how powerful to work with the frequencies everyday.  Sometimes I would work with them 8-10 hours a day.  This provided me with huge release work and healing.  It is one of the reasons why I am so passionate about this work today.  I know it works and that the results last.  Another milestone was two years ago when Listening to Smile went international, into Australia, Ireland, and Canada.  Earlier this year we expanded even more into Belgium, Scotland, and Mexico.  This is significant for us because we can see how our work is beneficial to different cultures and demographics on a larger scale.

Sound itself, without interference is endless flow. Listening to Smile echoes and awakening the infinite nature of true self. Now, which of your 5 familiar senses is most dominant?

I would say my hearing is definitely most dominate.

Whan did you grow aware of this?

From a very early age, my mother and father bathed me in music.  Everything from Miles Davis, John Coltrane, to Bob Dylan and the Beatles.  I grew up with a appreciation to music.  Later in life when I took up instruments, I already had a foundation from being exposed to so much amazing music early in life.  The crossover was very easy to becoming a musician.  I believe musicians listen to music differently.

Its true that music touches us emotionally in ways words alone do not. How would you say musicians hear music differently?

It relates to the sensitivity of the ear.  We hear more acutely, what many people do not pick up on. The next step for me was becoming a sound engineer. I was involved in the mixing and mastering of my music.  I learned to separate the instruments in the recordings and to look for any imperfections and look for any creative ways to portray a certain feeling or message.   After 20+ years of doing this, I think my hearing has just become more sensitive than the average listener.

What is your intention in doing this? What kinds of benefits do you see or envision?

Our intention with Listening to Smile is to bring education and awareness of frequency as a modality of healing to people all around the world.  We facilitate this through our healing music and affiliate programs.  Our affiliates interact with thousands of people each month through meditations and sound healing.   Using our frequency minded music, we have seen recovery from several illness and conditions some example are pancreatic cancer, autism, severe anxiety, and depression.  I myself was dealing with an autoimmune issue along with chronic illness and found powerful results with breath work, sound healing, and meditation.  In 2012, I was 312 lbs and in a year I lost over 110 lbs by utilizing breath work, sound healing, and meditation.  This again is why I can be so passionate about what I do.  Through my own experiences I know this works.

How do you imagine this complements breath work and neural therapy that focus on emotional trauma release?

Frequency is the great disrupter.  It has this amazing ability to block out fear and anxiety by simply blocking our past stories by creating a space where we are sitting in the eye of the storm in the mind.  When sound healing is applied with intention setting and declarative statements, there are amazing breakthroughs with release work and healing that can lead to reprogramming the mind.  This in turn can give positive tools to effectively deal with pain and trauma in a completely different way.

Has listening to Smile music ever triggered  past life recall or other spiritual experiences?

Yes!  There have been moments during sessions where I have seen myself in ancient settings (Egypt and Atlantis) working with sound tables and devices.  Doing what I do now is almost second nature and feels very familiar to me and always has.

Please share examples of where music has positively affected the health and well- being. (link to sample would be helpful)

390.6Hz - It was given to me during one of my meditations.  It so strongly came through to me that I had to work with it immediately.  I started using tone generators with headphones and then transitioned it into my own songs.  The benefits were immediately noticeable, where it completely cleared out the cobwebs of my mind and my body had a huge release.  It set up an emotional vibration that it would be impossible for fear, anxiety. or worry to be present.  Here is a link to one of our most purchased and licensed tracks in our catalog,  "Belief Code 21."  This frequency is beneficial for stress relief and relaxation.

How do you see Humanity (past, present, future)?

I have always considered myself a time traveler.  I definitely have a strong connection to different periods and times.  I pull from these different periods and times for my influence in the work that I do now.  I am mindfully-connected to the past, present, and future simultaneously.

What a wonderful reminder that on some level, time travel occurs between the ears and the imagination. Listening to silence and then, mindful music enables us to tune into this. Why do you feel more people are not aware ofthe benefits of sound healing?

To be honest, I think it's because people think it's too easy.  They believe it can't possibly be that simple to just use headphones and listen to frequency. We have been raised in a society where the answer have always come from a pill or prescription.  What we are seeing take place right now is the crumbling of this empire.  I believe people are kind of in a discombobulated state.  I think that we just have to do our best with helping people to be curious and trust themselves and their intuition.

Oh yes! Many people in the West are certainly conditioned to make complicated what is simple.

Are you familiar with the documentary film, Heal? If so, what are your impressions?

I am indeed familiar with the documentary film, Heal.  It is absolutely amazing!  Joe Dispenza and Medical Medium are in that film and they are some of my favorite speakers.

Agree whole-heartedly. It is a timely piece of work that invites the public to recognize the value of alternative approaches to healing abd how they can complement other forms of healing and self-healing.

Have you heard of the sound healer? (If not, highly recommend  this film).

Yes, however I have not seen it.  I will definitely check it out upon your recommendation.

What insight or advice would you like to offer?

Through my own personal experience and the work that I have been doing with Listening to Smile over the last 5 years, I believe stress is the first place that we have to target for true healing.  I absolutely believe that sound healing has something to offer every person on this planet.  From the time of our conception until the time of our birth we become acclimated with this reality with sound and vibration in our mothers womb.  This is one of the most natural and powerful ways that we can co-create the healing in ourselves with Spirit.

Share anything else you would like to add.

Every month Listening to Smile produces frequency minded music in the themes of the
astrological energy.  Our goal is to further align our themes and CD frequencies to the direction and greatest needs of the collective consciousness by working in tandem with monthly astrological events and universal energies.  In turn, our monthly Sonic Meditations for 2019 will be created with frequency selections with the potential to best assist in integrating the current cosmic conditions and maximizing the divine flow for growth and evolution set forth by the markers of our greater cosmos.

12 ways breathwork empowers me

Breathwork involves a series of nasal or mouth breathing techniques.  Those who engage in such practices gain access to what is going on within different aspects of their being.  This can evoke life-changing 'ah-ha' moments, shed light on perceived obstacles in our lives, strengthen relationships, and preciptate changes in career and all kinds of situations.  the question is, why does the opportunity present in our lives? What if everything only has perfect timing?

The Sufi poet Rumi echos, "What you seek is seeking you." Yet, it is not always obvious until the lightbulb goes on inside.  The courage to explore, be brave and vulnerable, happens with perfect timing.

We can ask ourselves "who am I?" before breathwork experiences and discover how far we have come after a session, even a series of sessions, a retreat, a course or facilitator trainings. Nothing real changes yet how we feel about who we have always been, shifts. Extensive breathwork shows me that perceived obstacles are themselves the Path to emotional release, deeper awareness, understanding and much more. It brings me face to face with who I AM.  Notice 12 ways breathwork empowers me:

1. I finally grasp things that had previously eluded me

We all have puzzles in our lives that we exist to solve, events that do not seem to make sense, situations that appear and disappear or even outcomes that evoke confusion or negative emotion.  Every breathwork session allows me to grow conscious of intimate details that join key dots. Our lives are like movies.  We are actors, directors and scriptwriters and gradually gain access to insights from each role play. One can no longer lie to oneself when one is privy to the truth. No other practice I have experienced precipitates such clarity.

2.  I uncover core beliefs that had been running me

Like many people, at a very young age, I developed unconscious beliefs that created patterns of behaviour later in my life.  Breathwork gives me access to events from the creator of each scenario.  Thus, I re-experience emotions and pivotal moments that are like waterfalls that trigger new levels of healing.

3.  I now feel more confident speaking my truth

Over a period of many years, I had shared some energetic insights in my books, but generally kept these experiences to myself.  Breathwork further opens my perception, gives me access to streams of consciousness and enables me to gain new insight into the energetic flow through and around me. Imagine your sense of past, present and future run together and allow you to truly savor all this moment offers.

4.   It enables me to own disowned anger

The cultures and situations of our upbringing ingrain morals, ethics and other behaviours. breathwork helped me discover to my surprise that I had a lot of disowned anger that was repressed and in need of release.  Through training I learned a variety of techniques that facilitate effective letting go on a whole new level.  In my body, I grew privy to pain from betrayal, abandonment that relfected what I had actually done to myself.

5.  I strengthen ability to tune into the Soul

Breathwork sessions, combined with regular meditation,  empower me to pay closer attention to my Soul. I feel more deeply, recognize intuition is the language of the soul so I act more consistently on that (as  opposed to acting on the logical mind which I was taught to do). The more I let go of what is not me, the more I affect the rising of my kundalini and energetic journey from hell to heaven (bliss).

6.   I am no longer tone-deaf

Intervals are the spaces between events.  For an extended period, I did not notice the intervals. My perception was limited to recognizing sounds of events in a linear way.  Breathwork guided me to feel at one with the breath.  I came to see we need an ear, an eardrum and nervous system to hear and recently, I detected something subtle joins all perceived events.  Vibrations can exist in air but unless we perceive the vibrational intervals, they go unnoticed.  Breathwork allows me to stop jumping between events and flow as the energy that is also the intervals. I feel interconnectedness on a whole new level; how flowers go with buzzing bees, why plants go with water and sunshine, why human interdependence with trees goes far deeper than exchanges of oxygen and carbon dioxide.

7. I sense new levels of intimacy in relationships

This goes way beyond personal, professional, and friend-relationships.  It is a vision that recognizes all humans are interconnected with all things. Only as we tune into the energy flow of relationships are we aware of the over-reaching melody and harmony everywhere. We can even come to see waves of energy like strands of webs on Earth, into the cosmos and connecting this and other universes.

8. I deepen self-love and acceptance

Breathwork is seemingly growing more popular with well-known people like Anthony Robbins working with Dan Brule and other celebrities  getting their own breathwork therapists.  This said, breathwork came into my life through synchronicity, at a moment when my body was ready to purge itself of thought forms it had outgrown.  This is ultimately about learning to love myself and see my growing love for myself reflected in the world around me. At some point it hit that everything feels like a message about love,or a call for love and appreciation. The more I love and appreciate others, the more I realize to love and appreciate myself.  We are One.

9. I gain new clarity

Breathwork is like a conduit or direct channel of energy to and from my Soul.  I discover I can lay down and immerse in a session to readily obtain answers from my higher more expanded being.  The impulse to reach outside myself for answers is quiting down.

10. I stand more in personal power

Gaining insight on emotional trauma is a great way to show ourselve that thoughts begin and end in the mind.  This is a wonderful way to demonstrate I am safe and protected right where I am and also the source of forgiveness that liberates me from any thoughts that bind.  Sensing energy fields and what goes on in 'Covert ways' is true freedom.

11. I know selective awareness is a choice

Many people seek spiritual connections and extra-sensory perception.  This is something I have always felt and never lost but often hid out of fear. Breathwork helps me feel the humor in the challenges I perceive and the wisdom available in grounding in different countries, environments and situations.  I am able to see from a more expansive vantage point the game of life.  From the view of continuous stream of consciousness, I am the cosmic consciousness revealing layers of what I am ready energetically to integrate.  Breathwork opens me up to see wholeness in every experience and the choice to be aware of our full light, optimum functioning or reduced existence.  When ready we can expand and blossom into more potential.

12. I am no longer emotionally- detached from life

Breathwork offers me a window into some very disturbing and traumatic experiences that led me to understand why I chose to experience a fear of life, a fear of being rejected, mistreated, fear of being honest and candid about what I perceive to feel good and right and fear of speaking truth. Rather than continuing to be diplomatic and selectively numbing out, I choose instead to feel and express the full gamut of emotions, to create healthy boundaries and share insights to empower others to feel just as enlivened and uplifted. This enables me to deepen my experience of what it is to be truly human in a multidimensional world.

5 Tips to feel more joy

The conditioned mind is shifting how it perceives and processes energy. We initially sense intermittent serendipity.  Then, it is as if random acts or events are occurring.  Next, right on cue, deja-vus and coincidences arise.  We come to sense increasing synchronicity until it feels every encounter and experience in our lives is interconnected. The more clarity we get about our passion, the more we unleash untapped inner power, the more we naturally share our unique gifts. We are magically inspired what to do with it.  As this evokes joy, we tune into and live in a higher vibration. Consider 7 tips to raise our pleasure threshold ;

1. Engage in breathwork

Whether we explore Rebirthing, Holotropic, Cathartic, Reichian or Integrative breathwork, Pranayama or  some combination of deep connected breathing techniques, this is a useful step to access and release emotions which offers glimpses of inner peace.  The more we tune into the rhythm of the breath, the more we get a sense of which emotions drive us and when, the more interconnected events and encounters grow self-evident.

2. Uncover limiting core beliefs

Negative or limiting beliefs are the filters through which we are taught to see ourselves and the world.   So long as we are unconscious, self-defeating patterns continue.  Awakening is about growing aware of the origins of our behaviours so we can allow healing or energetic recalibration to occur.

3. Empower yourself

Standing in our power implies we are willing to recognize our misperceptions and shift our fear-based beliefs to unconditionally loving ones. This is about accepting and integrating all experiences as part of the whole.  It is also about recognizing that negative emotions are pointers and gauges for how much we love or reject ourselves.

4. Speaking our truth

Part of the deepening process of self empowerment involves getting clear on our passion and sharing that openly. The more we speak and express our truth creatively, the more we begin to live our truth rather than presenting different personas to different people in different settings. Speaking our truth is one way to raise self esteem and confidence. We are letting go of masks or identities which are incompatible with our soul.

5. Act on life purpose

This is about actually doing and being what and why we exist.  Once we are fully conscious of our passion or core reason for being, then it is up to us to translate or express that for others. The mind can never quiet until we recall or uncover our unique gifts and find the courage to take steps to use this to enrich the world. It is about noticing and following synchronicities, and allowing the truth to flow naturally without fear. Being authentic is the epitome of fearlessness.

10 Life-changing revelations

This moment invites a new level of reflection.  During meditation, certain ah-ha moments arise within.  Ponder the implications of these 10 life-changing revelations;

1. Remembering who you are

Self-realisation is reaching that place where you know you are not your body, not the mind, not your emotions, not that which changes with time.  You are the Soul.  If you take away what you are aware of, you are still aware this is not there. Take away awareness and the light goes out.

2. Growing aware of the power of the psyche

The moment the psyche drops into the body is not necessarily as the result of traumatic events in childhood. This moment is so powerful, that it pulls our consciousness fully and instantaneously into the limiting experience. We forget who we are (infinite) because we are busy paying attention to the object of who we are instead of the source of consciousness.  The more intense the emotions, the more powerful an experience feels, the more distracting it is. When we drop into the body, consciousness is immediately distracted by senses, sounds.  Discomfort arises due to an imagined loss of self. However some beings do not drop into the body completely. They struggle with grounding in this world, staying linked to Source.

3. Creating the self concept

We define a world inside ourselves that supports our self concept. Our identity does not develop, but we create it to soften the blow, to distract ourselves from pain of perceived loss of Self.  We each pull the self concept around ourselves, like wool over the eyes, embellish it with the idea that it protects us from deeper pain.  Discomfort prompts each of us to grasp hold of labels and things to define us and enable us to feel more at ease with ideas of who we are in the environment we are living in. The lost Self attempts to redefine itself.

4.   Changing self -definitions

Throughout our lives, we latch onto experiences to define us.  Ego is this masquerading self we pull over our consciousness.  We reflect on our curriculum vitae or accomplishments for instance, or label ourselves based on a series of changing relationships (i.e. friend, single, married, divorced, parent, widowed, etc).  We define ourselves by changing conditions and relationships to orient ourselves in an ever-changing reality that only exists in the mind.

5.  Feeling driven by fear

Regardless of what we think we achieve, the false self is driven by fear of rejection, fear of being found out, fear of our self-created 'safe' realities falling apart. Deep down, we do not want life to pass us by and yet, any fear that arises within is pointing to the original fear of loss of Self that happened when we took a body. We subconsciously tell ourselves that as long as we can control things the way we define them, we can feel safer and supported.  Core panic unrecoginzed echoes attention is hijacked elsewhere than who we are.

6. Distinguishing between core and facade

When someone dies or leaves our lives, grief often arises.  The majority of people are only ever dealing with emotion they feel related to the external world.  The real grief emerging is that which you feel about the illusion of separation you feel toward source consciousness, that which is never really lost, only forgotten.  As long as the predictable aspects of our realities continue, its like we have body guards and we feel secure, powerful, confident.  Our masks exist to protect us from the Truth of who we are.

7. Awakening to spirituality

Awakening to spirituality is about dealing with core Self rather than hiding from it.  We are no longer duped by or lost in the masquerade.   This is about working through the hurdles we create to get through the imagined fear, to deal with the fear of loss of who we are, so it ceases to occur.  It is about recognizing the game we buy into, recognizing the likes and dislikes we hold dear, the unconscious judgements we make about everything that attempt to control predictable outcomes.  On some level, when we feel insecure, we put loads of attention and effort into initatives to feel loved and accepted.  If we are living life to hide from Self, we never get anywhere.  Notice whenever something inside is not okay, that it attempts to feel okay by manipulating and exerting control over the external world. Growing aware that attempts to control are not working is the stepping stone to realizing what you are trying to hide from and compensate for.

8.  Finding True Being

We only ever truly emerge into this world when we stop being motivated by fear and are instead inspired by Love and compassion.  When our power and conditions arise from unconditional love (as opposed to conditional states like changing weather, finances, economy, rejection, ect), we are powerful beyond measure.

9. Recognizing everything is shiftable

Feelings are is shiftable. This has nothing to do with the external world. Stop looking outside to define yourself.  Instead, look inward to work with yourself.  Stop keeping yourself entertained, distracted so you think you are okay.  Work consciously with the part of you that is bothered by external changes.

10. Being okay with reality

This is not the false reality you have created and perpetuated much of our lives.  This is not about forcing conditions and people to be or do what we want.  This is about being okay with whatever is unfolding, working with it, accepting that it is for the best even if we do not yet grasp the bigger picture.  We do not access our magic if we do not surrender our desire to control and see the blessings in everything. Decide to notice what is bothering us in this moment.  Choose to relax amidst the discomfort.  Disengage. Stop complaining or resisting or taking things personally. Stop allowing external unfoldings to disturb us. Allow the distrubance to pass through.  Discomfort pass through as we leave it alone.  We let go of te parts of the world we were using to define us. We honour and respect the flow of everything. Consider 12 ways to reframe fear and failure and 5 Tips to own it.

5 Tips to Feel at more home

You may contemplate moving or know people who have or are. On the surface, this may appear to be for work or new relationships. We are taught that ancient cultures moved regularly, based mainly on seasons and migrating to where different kinds of food was plentiful. Some nomadic cultures still do. Yet, logical reasons aside, is another explanation possible? What if deep down, the urge to change home or other surroundings is based on something unseen that you feel?

Moving house is a symptom of energy shifts going on inside you.  We are constantly changing our levels and states of energy, but many of us do it unconsciously, allowing moods and emotions to determine our state of mind, as well as the external situations.  What if feeling at home where you are is the key to bringing the highest qualities into your life experience? Ponder these 5 tips:

1. See your home as a mirror

At some stage, you will begin to see how your home reflects your belief systems, sense of self-worth, how authentic or natural you are portraying yourself. Be willing to explore this and change or evolve. You may feel your idenitity or what feels right shifting.  People may call you crazy or brave. New values and perspectives are urging you to transform your inner life which is influencing your outer environment to change (or inviting you to move).

2. Renovate your home and life

At this point, you begin to realize that you cannot become your best self without being willing to make changes inside. It grows more obvious what depletes your energy. Yo may feel compelled to put in bigger windwos, rip down physical walls or completely change some aspects of your living environment to suit what is shifting within you. If you resist change, you notice reistsance severely depletes your energy.

3.  Accept what comes to the surface

Many people assume feeling at ease with yourself means an immediate removal of all the heavy energies, and a sudden transformation from a deep sleep to immediate accpetance of all that evokes dscomfort. IN truth, the awakening journey involves constant fluctuations as karmic energy comes to the surface and you work to rid your energy body of those experiences and emotions.  You may have deep wounds from your childhood, past relationships, and past lives that need a lot of attention and healing before you can move forward.

4.  Be willing to shift focus

The desire to move house is a symptom of other shifts going on inside you. When you go out to a restaurant, grocery store, or bank, you may start to see existing ways of functioning as irrelevant or harmful to the greater purpose you are feeling about life. You start to become disinterested in material items, shopping, eating out, and redefine “normal” . You may start to find more solace and meaning in nature and exploring your creativity.  One of the biggest transformations people go through during vibrational shifts is a longing to get out of their current job or home, and to move into a new role or home that echoes their true purpose. Many people even start their own businesses as entrepreneurs, get into life coaching or energy healing arts. When you feel stifled in your current environment, you being to take action to evolve into your greater purpose.

5. Love yourself more

During this time, you probably will feel a deeper connection to Earth and all its beings. When you see pollution in the air, animals being tortured, or someone crying, you will likely experience a strong reaction and wish you could instantaneously heal everything and everyone on Earth.  As you recall how it feels to love yoruself more, you naturally love others more, which deepens empathy towards others. Perhaps redefine your sense of home not only within, but also imagine your harmonious inside energy expanding outwards not only into your home but also into the neighborhood, community, city, region, country, hemisphere, earth, solar system, galaxy, universe, multiverse, source and therefore within again as a complete circuit.
