Dream Analysis of the Week- Horse stuck in fence

Dream:

So, I was walking along this path with a friend or 2, looking for something it seemed, somehow I had the feeling it was a misty morning. Anyway, we turn up this other path and I look up and see a bit of a commotion. so I hurry up and then see the horror or this bay brown horse that had somehow got its front legs tangled in the fence wire. But at a height just higher than my head. So, I am now this side of the fence, the horse is that side of the fence but its head is this side. There are a few people trying in vain to cut the wire with an old garden scissors, but nobody seems to stress.  I recognise the boy with the scissors as being in the same school my daughter was in well I see this and go into Panic mode. we must free this horse asap else it won't make it. I shout to those in that side of the fence to wake up and hurry up and get pliers from the house or garage behind them and cut the wire from this horses legs. Then I get a Christian lecture from this boy’s mother about my language. And all I am thinking is please not now just get pliers. And I am feeling so confused with the mentality of all these people. And what about this poor horse. Helpless. I woke up.

Insight:

Invite you to start with the emotions that stand out: helpless, confusion, panic, horror, fear (of death).

Brown animals as totems echo strength, stability, and endurance. The moment a dream animal exerts effort to escape a trap or entanglement, it warns you to pay attention to what you resist releasing in waking life.  If your relationship with self needs some work, to embark in a healthy, committed long-term or deepen an existing relationship, raising self- esteem is key.  If during childhood, you were often given what you wanted without much effort, you may have to learn assertivenss, learn to communicate.

When fear is evoked in nature, we may be ready to integrate a new level of awareness into our lives. How do we cultivate more self-love? Do a task you have been postponing.  Put yourself out there and create a kind of community to reflect self-love.  How can we be more autonomous in the way that we are living our lives? How do we speak to ourselves (self-talk)? What is our entourage like? Is there camaraderie, loyalty?  Are you nourishing soul growth?

Fence dream symbols often echo or emotional or relational boundaries. Are you ‘caught up’ in situation that evokes discomfort? If you or someone you know is at the ‘breaking point,’ what gets you over the hump is the decision that “I must feel better.” The revelation happens that there are things that must change for you to live a different life.  We learn about people when we observe them relationally.

Dream pliers are symbolic of a deep desire to. fix something. Resolve your family conflicts.  When we can accept ourselves despite our flaws then we can love a partner despite our flaws. People who judge themselves harshly also judge others harshly.   Choosing well and discerning well requires you know your needs well.  Are you a communicator and is this person open.

Scissors in a dream are part of your quest to eliminate anything non-essential from your lifestyle. This can be feelings and thoughts that you keep, yet disregard. Figure out what you cannot live without in a relationship and do not settle.  What is healthy is people who know themselves, who are kind and who communicate.

If you believe your needs are less important, then you are prone to co-dependent relationships and may have abandonment.  If you think your needs are more important than someone else’s, then you are selfish.  We are not given many examples of enduring love, of what happens after the honeymoon phase.  Everyone deep down is capable of that.

Our greatest opportunity for healthy soul growth is through relationships.  A bad relationship is not good for health.  Trust, safety are foundational.  Do you want to be a great partner.  If you do not feel protected, if you do not feel like you have the freedom to express yourself, then control may be an issue. When we support each other to deal with our own stuff reveals we can be here without having to control a situation. (i.e. Do you want me to give you a hug, support, you listen or do you want my advice?)  What is the source of your beliefs, morals? Religion? If you feel stuck in an area of your life, you have the power, ingenuity,  resourcefulness and awareness to get yourself out. The nature and pace of change is up to you. Nobody can rescue you but yourself. Everything in the dreamechoes a part of your state of mind.

We offer Dream Consultations for single and multiple dreams as well as an Astral, Lucid and Dream Yoga Course.

Dream Analysis of the Week- Repeated Awakening

Dream

I dreamed my alarm went off, startled me. It quickly hit I had overslept, forgot to sit exams. The dates were circled in red on the calendar on a bulletin board hanging above my nearby desk. If that was not bad enough, I opened a letter that had been slide under my door. It said I had an another exam to write for a course I forget to drop.  My breathing went shallow, I began to sweat. So, I lay back down, closed my eyes, heard my beating heart, slowed my breathing. When I opened my eyes again, my bedroom furniture had moved. I also had a green plant. I was aware I had finished college years ago. I shook my head again, closed my eyes and then a real alarm woke me up. I was lying down again.

Insight:

To feel panic when you awaken from a dream; a sense of being desperately unprepared, stressed, scared and worried, invites that you meditate on the feelings.  Silence the mind and ‘stay’ present with the emotions that stand out. Let them guide you to the underlying and core issue.  Where else in your life might evoke feeling unprepared, stressed, desperate or scared?

As it happens, this might be about a life transition you are going through or change and growth in personal relationships. What is it, unrelated to dream exams, that you might feel unprepared for? It might be feelings of inadequacy or self-doubt about a new life chapter. It might be about experiencing a lack of life balance, too much pressure, a sense of overwhelming responsibilities or a reflection of an inner conflict.

Another view is this is a false awakening dream. Such false awakenings are viewed as a hybrid or overlap of timelines, states between sleep and wakefulness. Those who know false awakenings may also lucid dreams.

In a lucid dream, the dreamer realizes s/he is dreaming. This knowledge allows you to maintain some control over your surroundings and even change the course of the dream. If this was lucid, ths student might have consciously turned the alarm clcok back and decided to to go back in time to awaken in time to take the exams, reclaim control of the unfolding experience. Many lucid dreams commonly end in false awakenings. You might even “wake up” and start describing your dream to someone else before truly waking up.

A false awakening can become a lucid dream, especially if you begin to notice certain details that differ slightly from reality.  For example, your furniture might not be in the usual place, your lamp might not turn on, or you might open a book and find you can’t read any of the words.  Suspecting you aren’t actually awake might lead you to try manipulating the dream in some way or telling yourself to wake up. This is part of an empowerment process that redefines a different kind of awakening and reclaiming of power.

Dream Analysis of the Week- Perfume on the bed

Dream:

My dream was the bottle of perfume sitting in the middle of my bed. I’m terrified when I see it. I run to the door of bedroom to get out put the door is locked. I can’t get out. I feel trapped. I keep looking back at the bed and seeing the perfume and saying how can I be scared of that?

Insight

We generate dreams in different vibrations or vibrational bands. The physical body creates its own dreams. If your stomach is upset, a particular type of dream is created. If you are unhealthy, feverish, the physical body creates a related dream. If you are uneasy at all, one thing is clear: the dream is created out of some dis-ease.

Physical discomfort, creates its own realm of dreams, so a physical dream can even be stimulated from the outside while you are sleeping. Reflect on perfume traits (aromas) and details like shape and details of bottle.  Its possible an object in your midst triggers you.  This comes through the physical body during dreams.  Pay attention to body language and emotions here.

Beds invite us to recharge our batteries, reflect on our feelings and experiences with intimacy.  If its an unfamiliar 'dream' bedroom, may also refer to a sexual awakening. Having second thoughts? Perhaps its not the perfume that scares u but romantic attention it echoes you fear losing or fears of vulnerability, relationship evolution? If so, stop putting pressure on yourself.  Shift focus to quality time.

Perfume, as a dream symbol, tends to refer to our personal life. Its often a sign that when we wake up, we would benefit from engaging in the world more naturally and fearlessly. You need to understand what it means to smell your way through life. Which images/ sensations does perfume scent evoke? Any smell out of place?

Dreams about being trapped are a culmination of your emotions about current life events and your fears for the future. You're feeling trapped physically or emotionally, and your subconscious mind is attempting drills to help you get unstuck. Many ways exist to rewire the brain for joy  You hold the key to any locks you encounter.

In a nutshell: what stands out is possible fear of commitment, fear of things working out well, fear of allowing love to unfold next level.  Conditioned mind wanders to future 'what ifs'. Dream invites you to focus on the present. Sometimes the vibration of joy can startle or overwhelm when not used to it.

Dream Analysis of the Week- Bloody Frogs

Dream:

I was visiting an acquaintance at her home. I had always had a not so great relationship with her. She is married to my husband’s business partner so we were often forced to socialize and I knew she detested me but however hard I tried to win her over nothing changed. She had made up her mind. She and her husband immigrated to the USA a couple of years ago and they were back in South Africa visiting friends and she invited me over.

So I was at her old house which was empty now and we were chatting, she was obviously trying to be friendly and I appreciated the gesture. It was just the two of us. She took out this little box that had about ten tiny compartments. In each compartment was a tiny frog. Each frog had the most vivid and beautiful colours with patterns. Exquisite. I played with one or two frogs and then gave them back to her and she put them back in their respective boxes.  I was curious and picked up the box because I wanted to see the other frogs and somehow the tops of the compartments came open and all the beautiful little frogs spilled out onto my lap and I couldn’t catch them quickly enough to put them back. The frogs hopped off into the next room. She didn’t seem too perturbed when I pointed it out. After a while I got up to go and look for the frogs and upon entering the other room saw two puppies who had eaten all the frogs in a playful game. There were chunks of dead frog parts and a blood puddle.   I immediately ran to her and explained what happened.  She was understandably furious and started screaming at me to get out and she regretted ever inviting me and she hates me etc…

I was extremely upset about the beautiful little frogs and how I had proved to be careless. I felt responsible and wretched and cried. I was so disappointed in myself. My friends arrived and tried to console me but I was distraught. I felt so awful. My one friend had a box with similar frogs (not as beautiful) and I asked him whether I could buy them from him to give to her as replacements but he didn’t want to sell them. They were rare and one could only purchase them in Pakistan.  I felt a failure. I knew the dead frogs were an accident but I still felt completely responsible for ruining her attempt at trying to be nice.  In the past years (before this incident) whenever she invited me over to her home to try and be nice - something awful always happened to cause us to remain estranged for a couple of years.  It was as if destiny insisted that we shouldn’t be friends.

Insight:

Dream encounters are a projection of some part of ourselves. If someone despises or hates us, and we are triggered, then this is drawing our attention to something unconscious within our own psyche.  We all have a shadow self. Its often made up of the parts of self we view as unacceptable. For many, this means things like our sadness, intense emotions like rage or hostility, even laziness, cruelty, grief or despair. Yet, you might also view this as relating to uncivilised behaviour or disowned parts of yourself like personal power, lost independence, emotional security or sensitivity.

Turns out, unacceptable treatment in dreams is a metaphor often couched in blame that evokes guilt and/or shame. Whatever beckons your attention on a deeper level, you assume self-blame, feel careless, responsible and self-punishment continues through dream worlds to get your attention.

Uneasy emotions are inviting you to explore more deeply what is going on inside.  Shadow figures may evoke fear of rejection. If we do not learn to love, accept whatever we hide from, we project the unresolved feelings onto others (who trigger us to keep discomfort alive).  The context of relationships reminds us of whether something is truly resolved. If someone leaves of moves away, it may be that part of yourself they represent is no longer needed is is healed.  If they return, this is opportunity to restore or rekindle relationships, or a way the universe is telling you something deeper remains unresolved. If you truly desire to repair a friendship, then you must find a way to befriend yourself.  That is, explore ways to decode and love your shadows.

This dream is also an invitation to accept and integrate the male side (assertive self, set and defend boundaries). There is something deeper going on here than an ongoing quest for connection, acceptance and belonging.  This explains why the frogs escape.  Somethng wants to show itself and you may not want to see it.

Dream figures like the frog appear to offer guidance and direction.  Frogs are about evolution and coming into wholeness, Change is on the horizon.  As your inner feelings are made known to yourself and those around you, it does not have to turn out to be a bloody mess. Dogs are known as man's best friend. The one in the dream is doing the dreamer a favor. The puppy heightens the sense of urgency to look. Something wants attention. Reflect on significance of the number 10.

Dream Analysis of the Week- Cosmic portals

Dream:

In the dream, gravity and atmosphere no longer existed in as mind knows them on Earth. There was no world per se contained in a globe.  Rather, layers of porous mountains floated and there was no more illusory blue sky barrier between energy flow and outer space. Distance and time vanished. The proximity of planets, stars and celestial bodies change the whole dynamic of intimacy and connection.  The idea of 'light years away' is a barrier dissolved in the mind. What is left is so beautiful tears fall as water droplets, cosmic water falls between the layers of rocks and dimensions. The sparkling water is a curtain to portals.

Insight:

Waterfalls are a metaphor for letting go, for allowing tears to fall in layers, where they may, so that the continuous cleansing of life makes itself known. Sheets or layers of revelation arise as one goes through levels of initiation.

Gravity may symbolize feeling grounded and humble yet it may also represent something grave that calls for attention.  Letting go of control and being open to spiritual growth are themes that allow you to rise higher. Mountains with holes refer to your personal journey toward self-awareness and personal growth. It indicates that you are on the right path, feeling lighter, and moving in an upward direction, personally, spiritually, or professionally.

Overall, the dream echos an interplanetary, interstellar, interdimensional journey that blurrs boundaries and conventional points of reference. This could echo the desire for non-conformity, escape or letting go of a sense of confinement. It could also be an example of the result of shedding what no longer serves you, what aspects of your reality you happen to outgrow.

Portals echo growing fearlessnes, the willingness to explore unknown worlds and be open to unexpected situations. It is about being open-minded, trust and surrender.

Dream dimensions point to many different dimensions we have experienced and are still visiting. The first ten layers can refer to the; 1) The somatic or bodily dimension, 2) The instinctual dimension, 3) the collective unconscious dimension, 4)The personal (subjective) unconscious dimension, 5)The relationship dimension, 6) The outer (objective) dimension 7)The club/tribe/political party dimension 8)The national/cultural dimension 9)The nature/environment dimension , 10)The spiritual dimension.  All of these may be explored in more depth.

We offer detailed Dream Consultations of single and multiple dreams covering karma, energy, and other themes as well as offer an Astral, Lucid and Dream Yoga Course beginning November 3, 2023. Connect with us to discuss these or tailored coaching options to empower you on your journey.
