5 Tips to Develop Psychic Abilities

Many people are keen to develop their idea of "psychic abilities."  The mind tends to create an idea of this term as a kind of psychic powers, assuming they are extraordinary, or accessible only from an unknown realm or level of being. Many fear the prospect or assume they are acquired by force of will or perpetual practice. Typically such powers include; telepathy, precognition, clairvoyance (seeing auras), second sight (perceiving ghosts), remote viewing, astral travel, even magical influence over people and events. Some people want to prove to themselves and others that such things are possible and they can do them, not once only (spontaneously or by accident) but regularly (at will or on demand). What if there is more to this? Consider tips to develop psychic abilities;

1. Realize that 'psychic powers' as the natural unfolding of living within and evolving our subtle bodies

2. Develop subtle bodies (etheric, astral, menal causal, buddhic nirvanic) and see what arises by extension

3. Accept certain things cannot be forced (as in will, and determination are not necessarily the answer)

4. Explore Lucid dreaming & Dream Yoga

5. Apply your gifts in service to humanity. This nourishes the subtle bodies and spiritual powers begin to unfold.

Tune into syncronicity

Notice when multiple individuals enter your life and reveal something in common, its telling you to tune into intuition, pay closer attention to something and act. It synchronicity. We cannot see synchronicity, but we can see the consequence of it. That it, synchronicity draws attention to things we do not initially recognize.
Similarly, as stages of awakenings occur within, you cannot tell exactly what has happened to yourself but see the consequence of it in how you think and feel. Something mysterious is happening. The more you feel it, the more awareness expands, the more you start to grow aware something inside you will start responding to it. This is the activation of subtle senses that tune into energy.
In another way, what has happened in you can trigger unfolding processes in others. Your synchronicity cannot be the cause of my synchronicity. Yet, your awakenings can preciptate the 'ah-ha' processes of others. My awakenings can energetically reverberrate in ways that prompt others to see differently. That is, if something has happened somewhere and we become available to it, we remain vulnerable to it, something can start responding in us that is parallel to it.
So, if someone plays music that inspires you to dance, the urge to dance is not caused by the music. Its a parallel urge within you. Something dormant, the energetic urge to dance, is provoked, inspired. If it is a cause, then everyone would dance to the same music. That would be hypnotic trance of the Pied Piper.

Dream Analysis of the Week- Cosmic portals

Dream:

In the dream, gravity and atmosphere no longer existed in as mind knows them on Earth. There was no world per se contained in a globe.  Rather, layers of porous mountains floated and there was no more illusory blue sky barrier between energy flow and outer space. Distance and time vanished. The proximity of planets, stars and celestial bodies change the whole dynamic of intimacy and connection.  The idea of 'light years away' is a barrier dissolved in the mind. What is left is so beautiful tears fall as water droplets, cosmic water falls between the layers of rocks and dimensions. The sparkling water is a curtain to portals.

Insight:

Waterfalls are a metaphor for letting go, for allowing tears to fall in layers, where they may, so that the continuous cleansing of life makes itself known. Sheets or layers of revelation arise as one goes through levels of initiation.

Gravity may symbolize feeling grounded and humble yet it may also represent something grave that calls for attention.  Letting go of control and being open to spiritual growth are themes that allow you to rise higher. Mountains with holes refer to your personal journey toward self-awareness and personal growth. It indicates that you are on the right path, feeling lighter, and moving in an upward direction, personally, spiritually, or professionally.

Overall, the dream echos an interplanetary, interstellar, interdimensional journey that blurrs boundaries and conventional points of reference. This could echo the desire for non-conformity, escape or letting go of a sense of confinement. It could also be an example of the result of shedding what no longer serves you, what aspects of your reality you happen to outgrow.

Portals echo growing fearlessnes, the willingness to explore unknown worlds and be open to unexpected situations. It is about being open-minded, trust and surrender.

Dream dimensions point to many different dimensions we have experienced and are still visiting. The first ten layers can refer to the; 1) The somatic or bodily dimension, 2) The instinctual dimension, 3) the collective unconscious dimension, 4)The personal (subjective) unconscious dimension, 5)The relationship dimension, 6) The outer (objective) dimension 7)The club/tribe/political party dimension 8)The national/cultural dimension 9)The nature/environment dimension , 10)The spiritual dimension.  All of these may be explored in more depth.

6 Benefits of Lucid Dreaming & Dream Yoga

To be exploring your dreams is to be working with your mind. Lucid dreaming happens when you realize that you’re dreaming as it’s happening. You may reall films like Dream yoga occurs when you use this lucidity for your own practice. Dream Yoga, rooted in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, allows us to “hack into the previously unconscious” and use our dreams to transform our waking lives. Wonder if this is worth exploring further?  Consider 6 benefits of lucid dreaming and dream yoga;

1. Extend our meditation practice into our sleeping hours

Buddhist teachings on emptiness and the alleviation of suffering, offer clues. We suffer because we take things to be real.  We suffer in direct proportion to how solid or unchanging we take the contents of our mind to be.  Dream yoga teachings gets to the heart of the matter. This can be confrontational yet, it shows us how we create our own suffering based on our beliefs in solid and heavy, and what is real. The removal of suffering is a direct effect of seeing the world as dreamlike. We use our study of night-time dreams to understand the mechanics of our suffering and happiness in the so-called daytime dream.

2.  Help manage nightmares

If we’re freaking out in the middle of a nightmare and we can wake up to the fact that we’re dreaming, then we can relieve suffering. We realize it isn’t real. That is being lucid. If we wake up to the fact that the contents of our mind are not as solid as we make them to be, then we see them as illusory. This is a process of awakening.

3. Better understand nightmares

To know nightmares on a mental level differs from the feeling and visceral level. Nightmares echo fragmented or disowned aspects of ourselves.  We’ve refused part of our experience. During a nightmare, these rejected aspects of our being are calling back for attention and reintegration. That’s why they’re chasing us. When we run away from them, we continue to keep them alive. That’s why people have recurring nightmares. The nightmare arises, and instead of relating to it, seeing it as it is, we run.  Instead of running, we can stop, turn around, and look directly at the monster. When we do, several things can happen. The monster may disappear, or it will stop and dissolve into us. By facing the monster, or by facing our demons, we can reintegrate these fragmented aspects of ourselves and absorb the nightmare.  This has big impact in our waking lives.

4. Uncover deeper Truth

There are relative truths to many of our dreams. Freud once said “an uninterpreted dream is like an unopened letter.” The unconscious mind is frequently sending us teachings and messages in dreams and nightmares.  Lucid dreaming can transform sleep into a window to the deeper realities. Yet, we often experience dreams as unreal. We can do things in dreams we do not in waking reality, like fly.

One of the reasons we don’t seem to have the same capabilities in waking reality as in dreams is because we take waking reality to be real. When you truly wake up, the waking world is just as real (or just as unreal) as the dream world. You start to see that the waking state is basically no different from the dream state. It’s the mind expressing itself in two different mediums.  We make this so-called waking reality more real than our dreaming reality. When the world is seen as illusory, the ego freaks out. It has nothing to stand on. Therefore it sees waking reality as real and the dream world as unreal.  The basic charter of these practices is to see the one taste of all these different dimensions of the mind so we’re no longer privileging one state over another. We have a very powerful prejudice toward waking consciousness. This is the source of lots of problems.

5. Explore the relevance of spiritual bypassing

Spiritual bypassing here refers to nihilism.  This frequently arises as the near enemy when one asserts that reality is just a dream. Saying reality is just a dream is very dismissive. On one level, that level of dismissiveness is what we’re after. We’re trying to dismiss the imputed validity of reified waking reality. In that regard, dismissal is appropriate. An erroneous interpretation of this is a thought that sounds like, “If it’s all just a dream, who cares what I do?” With that mentality, you do not choose to be a conscious creator. There’s no compassion or social activism. There’s just apathy. You must realize it’s a subtle trap, and ego can default into that. When we’re working with these practices, there are all these subtle traps that ego will find. The proof you may be seeking is found through your own diligence and what is revealed through your direct experience.

6.  Prepare us to experience a lucid death

According to the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, dream yoga came about largely as a preparation for death. Padmasambhava [the 8th century Indian teacher who brought Buddhism to Tibet] once allegedly said that if we can maintain lucidity in our dream state seven times—in other words, if we can maintain lucidity with some constancy in the dream state—we can have a lucid death experience.

What the traditions put forth is that when we die, our lucidity or "bardo" awareness  (the in-between state after death and before rebirth] will be directly proportional to our lucidity in the dream state. This, in turn, is directly proportional to our lucidity in the meditative state.  Dream yoga is important because it empowers not only our dream practice, but also our meditation practice. The biggest reason we’re not lucid in our dreams is that we’re not lucid to contents of our mind during the day. That is incredibly important. So many studies have shown that meditators have more lucid dreams. If you practice meditation during the day and develop lucidity or awareness of the contents of your mind, that naturally expresses itself as increased lucidity in the dream state. The tradition then goes one step further to say that type of lucidity also transfers to a lucid bardo experience.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It is important to recognize that huge resistance can come up for people when attempting lucid dreaming and dream yoga practices. Why?

The ego has a bias toward its version of awake reality. People fear some of these nocturnal practices as they’re afraid of the dark. Ego is simply keeping up its defences. Darkness is a code word for ignorance. Nighttime is an archetype of that ignorance for many people who prefer to stay in the dark.  Every time we go to sleep or get lost in monkey mind, ego is recharging its samsaric batteries. Not everybody wants to engage in dream yoga, because it will show us just how far we’re willing to go to wake up. Ego exists in the darkness of ignorance.  When we try to penetrate it with nocturnal dream practices, part of us that just doesn’t want to go there.

In conclusion, lucid dreaming and dream yoga practices are not designed for everybody. They’re a little more advanced and require discipline. They are subtle and deep. People may wonder, why bother? While these practices are not all that easy, they are potentially more transformative, aswe are dealing more directly with the very roots of our ignorance. When we engage in these practices, it concerns the very tectonic plates of our existence.

Dream Analysis of the Week- Destruction Series

Dream Series:

In the first vivid dream, I see my husband abandoning me for someone else.  I feel the deepest pain.

In the second dream, i see from high above the great wave of water coming on the town. I think how to help when water is already flooding everything. My view is far higher than some high building/mountain looking down.

In the third dream, the vision of some kind of construct. On the both sides they were like flat Earth planes and than many planets on both sides and something in between. This middle space i cannot recall.

Insight:

In a nutshell, the theme of separation is presented in examples on personal, planetary and cosmic levels.  At each level, the perspective is from a different level of the Sun- the inner sun or sacred heart, the cosmic sun and galactic sun.  At each level, resistance presents to change.   Moving through 5 key wounds (rejection, abandonment, humiliation, injustice, betrayal) and healing is the path to love, acceptance, wholeness. The god Shiva is to be united with Shakti.  Life or Earth re-balances or recalibrates. Peace arises at each level.

The body-mind complex (pindanda) means microcosm while the word Brahmanda means macrocosm. We often hear the phrase, 'whatever is there in the microcosm is also there in the macrocosm'.

Another way of seeing here reminds us all humans have centres of energy also called Chakras. An Yogi can by mantra japa pierce these Chakras in the sushumna nadi inside his spine. The question is how does an Yogi benefit from piercing these Chakras. Well, turns out that these Chakras in the human body-mind complex (pindanda) have their correspondence in the cosmic Lokas or planes. As the Yogi ascends chakra by chakra, he passes through the corresponding Lokas. Sir John Woodroffe in his book, 'The Serpent Power', presents the following table that shows the correspondence:

  • Muladhara Bhuvarloka
  • Svadhisthana Svarloka
  • Manipura Maharloka
  • Anahata Janaloka
  • Visuddhi TapalokaAjna Satya or Brahm
  • aloka (One who attains to Sahasrara goes beyond all Lokas.)

Turns out, 'whatever is in the macrocosm is in the microcosm' is not seen as scientific truth. We are not made of dark matter or dark energy. What surprises a Yogi as he keeps piercing each chakra is that the human being is built similar to the plan of the universe or the cosmos. This is why the Yogi by leading his shakti to each Chakra can access the equivalent loka of the 14-loka universe. There is no way a priori that any body could have predicted that. This similarity of the microcosm with the macrocosm at the deepest level is the surprise. Just as the universe is built of 14-lokas or planes, so are we. Whatever we have is also there in the universe.
